The Illinois PGA Foundation started GolfWorks Illinois in 2010 inspired by the success of several educational programs, including the New York Metropolitan Golf Foundation’s Golfworks program, and has a charitable purpose that ties in closely to the PGA of America’s motto of “Experts in the game and business of golf.” Through GolfWorks Illinois, the Foundation brings together PGA Professionals and industry leaders to be mentors providing the next generation an opportunity to learn the business side of golf, give back to the community and earn financial assistance towards college.
The Illinois PGA Foundation partnered with the University of Illinois Sports & Recreation Department to study the impact of the program on its participants and make recommendations for curriculum enhancements. To read more about this partnership and findings from 2010, please click here.
