HOST FACILITY: Hawthorn Woods CC - 1 Tournament Drive North, Hawthorn Woods, IL 60047 - (847) 847-3250.

EVENT: The Illinois Open Championship is a 54-hole stroke play event with a 156 player field size limit. The starting times will be comprised of place-winners in the qualifying events and those players exempted from qualifying. Following 36 holes of play, the field will be cut to the low 50 scorers plus ties. In case of a tie for the Championship, a three (3) hole total stroke play-off will take place following the posting of the final score. If the tie has not been broken after three holes, the playoff will continue at sudden death. Playoff holes to be determined by the rules committee.

ELIGIBILITY: All PGA Members, Apprentices, golf professionals and amateurs with a handicap index of 10.0 or less who are legal residents of the state of Illinois.

ENTRY FEE:
Non-PGA Professional $230.00
Illinois PGA Member/Apprentices (In Good Standing) $205.00
State of Illinois Amateurs $180.00
Optional Donation to the Illinois PGA Foundation $ 5.00

Late entries will not be accepted under any conditions. The entry fee will not be refunded after entries close. This policy applies to all contestants, including exempt players.

ENTRY DEADLINE: Monday, June 2, 2008 at 11:59 p.m. All entry fees must be made online at www.ipga.com.

WITHDRAWAL & REFUND POLICY:
Withdrawal prior to closing date:
FULL REFUND, MINUS AN ADMINISTRATIVE FEE OF $10.00.


Withdrawal after closing date:
1. Refund request form must be completely filled out and returned to the Section office to be reviewed at the next scheduled Tournament Committee meeting.
2. If a request form is not received at the Illinois PGA Section office within 48 hours of the completion of the event for which the refund is being requested, all rights to a refund will be forfeited.
The Tournament Committee will review all refund request forms on a case-by-case basis, and determine whether or not a refund will be granted. All decisions made by the Tournament Committee will be final.
3. Upon the close of the Sections fiscal year, all non-refunded tournament entry revenue shall be carried forward into the next fiscal year and allocated to tournament purse(s) at the discretion of the Tournament Committee.
4. Refund request forms and a Tournament Committee meeting schedule will be provided on the tournaments page on www.ipga.com.

Note: A competitor will not be eligible for a refund if: (1) The competitor “no shows” at an event, AND (2) fails to notify the Section Office or the on-site event staff prior to their assigned starting time, when giving such notice would have been practical.


FIELD SIZE: 156 contestants. The field will be cut to the low 50 scores and ties after 36-holes.

PRACTICE ROUNDS: Please contact Hawthorn Woods Country Club to schedule a practice round starting time. *The golf course will be closed on Sunday, July 27th at 3:00 p.m. for preparation for the Illinois Open.

CADDIES: Contestants may bring their own caddies.

All spectators must walk, unless a documented medical condition requiring the use of a golf car has been approved by the Tournament Committee by July 21, 2008. Please contact the Illinois PGA at (847) 729-5700 if a spectator following you requires a medical exemption. NO ON-SITE REQUESTS FOR SPECTATOR CARTS WILL BE ACCOMMODATED.

STARTING TIMES & GROUPINGS: Contestants shall be responsible for their starting times and groupings. All starting times and groupings will be listed on www.ipga.com as well as emailed to all players once they are finalized. Starting times will also be available by calling Hawthorn Woods CC after Monday, July 14, 2008.

SPIKE POLICY: Metal and/or soil penetrating spikes will not be allowed at any Illinois PGA sanctioned event unless otherwise specified. For further information this policy is listed on the Illinois PGA Section Tournament Rules & Regulations, Conduct, Eligibility and Policies which can be viewed at www.ipga.com. Penalty for breach of this rule is DISQUALIFICATION.

DRESS CODE: Contestants may not wear blue jeans and may not wear collarless t-shirt or tank tops. Men will observe the dress code of the PGA TOUR, NO SHORTS. Women will observe the dress code of the LPGA TOUR. While on the host facility property, caddies may wear either long pants or tailored solid colored knee length shorts. Blue jeans, cutoffs, T-shirts or shirts with no collar shall not be worn. Smooth rubber sole shoes are required. Golf shoes with traditional metal or soft spikes are prohibited.

CONDUCT: While on host facility property during qualifying rounds; players and caddies shall conduct themselves in a professional manner. The Illinois Section PGA Section reserves the right to remove a player from the qualifying competition for; non-competitiveness; conduct unbecoming a professional by the player; conduct unbecoming a professional by the players’ caddie.

RULES OF GOLF: Play shall be governed in accordance with the Rules of Golf of the United States Golf Association, as modified by the IPGA 2008 Local Rules and Conditions of Competition card and supplemented by the Notice to Competitors. Questions or disputes shall be settled by the on site.
